first date

There are so many different facets of money management. While some people see it as boring, I personally find that it is bursting at the seams with juicy excitement. For example, in this article I want to address some of the long-standing questions that men have wanted to ask regarding personal finance. If that’s not interesting, I don’t know what is. Ladies, be sure to stay checked in because some of the questions or comments could certainly use your input!

Many of the financial challenges Millennials face are applicable to both men and women. Most of us have been burdened by student loans, challenged by credit card debt, or facing the uncertainty of the job market due to high unemployment rates. And although the events may be the same, the impact for men and women can be different.

(My knight in shining armor)

Traditional structures of society are constantly changing, but there are still remnants of a chivalrous past that create special struggles for men when it comes to money management.

Here are some of the questions that come up often in my conversations:

- Men are commonly expected to pay on the first date and many dates thereafter. Is that fair when women are striving for equal compensation in the workplace?

- Men are also expected to be providers for their families. When caught in the throws of one of the worst economic recessions in history how does it impact men differently? How can men come out on top even amidst the economic turmoil?

- Finances are the number one cause of divorce. Are men ignoring financial compatibility in dating relationships in favor of more superficial factors?

The truth is that men are often expected to be the provider and the financial leader in their households even though no one has taught them how to be successful in this role. The challenges, expectations, and pressures that come along with such responsibility can be daunting when there is no support system.

I don’t have all of the answers but listen in to this panel of expert speakers who have something to say about how men can thrive and successfully achieve financial freedom. Sometimes, we might go off topic and venture off the beaten path, but the conversation is lively with lots of useful information! If you have some questions that we did not address, ask or comment below! The audio is uncut so feel free to skip ahead to the 5 minute mark where we jump right in! Unless you enjoy hearing me ask people to put their phones on mute!!
